No! It’s no folder, no brompten and it is not orange. This is my new bike called “HNF Heisenberg – Adventure”. OK – this is only the container it came in – there should be a bike inside…
Surprise, surprise – this looks like a bike. It’s green. HNF Heisenberg will send a van with up to 5 bikes to you and then you can test drive all of them. If you buy one, they will send such a box to you. If you need service: a van will come to you again and do the work at your home. No dealer involved. Works in Germany only at the moment.

It is an eBike (“S-Pedelec” called here, “L1e” is what the EU calls this type of bike) with a Bosch Performance Speed engine. You see the small Purion Display on the handlebar. In the middle of the handlebar is the place to mount your smartphone. You can even charge your phone while you ride the bike.
Magura MT-4 hydraulic disc brakes and a Rohloff hub. They both work well with the performance line engine. The engine supports you until a max speed of 45km/h – but you have to pedal…

In Germany we have to mount a license plate for a “fast” eBike (45km/h). Those without the licence plate are limited to 25km/h. There are other limitations for a fast eBike: like no rides on bicycle paths, helmet, light always on… but an engine that supports only a max speed of 25km/h is limited too….
The gear box of the Rohloff hub and the magura disc brakes with a diameter of 180mm.

The Rohloff hub – an expensive beauty. Together with the Gates carbon belt it is a perfect combo. No maintenance, no noise – clean and powerful.
There is no real innovation with the Brompton bike for years now. The new e-version of the Brompton (Brompton Electric) is expensive, shows no new ideas, you loose the front carrier and an engine in the front wheel is the last best option.
The Adventure is a special edition of the XD1 bike made by HNF Heisenberg. It comes with several nice parts like a Brooks saddle, Brooks grips and Supernova E3 lights.

The front and rear lights are from Supernova, called E3 and M99 TAIL LIGHT. The front light adds about 165 lm light to your path. Heisenberg designed a special stem for the E3 and the smartphone holder on top. You can’t turn off the light – it’s always on as a daytime running light.
That’s my new bike. Some modifications will follow soon. The bike itself brings a lot of fun and helps commuting around 55km every day.

Hello! I have also bought a HNF Heisenberg XD1 Adventure, and I have following simple question for you: have you found out whether you can replace the Gates belt? I cannot see a so-called “frame split” to pass the belt through. Do you happen to know? Many thanks.
Hi Chris,
yes there is a frame split on the right side of the frame – otherwise even HNF would not be able to mount the belt ;)
It is the black plastic near the end of the rear tube.
