Brompton Standard Range (BSR) Hub
Adjustment of the 3-spd BSR [Brompton Standard Range] hub is easy and it’s important to know how to – just think about a flat tire…: if you remove the rear wheel you’ll have to adjust the hub after remounting it.
On the right side of your wheel you see a small chain running into the hub. This gear chain has to be unscrewed when you remove the wheel.
Remount the wheel and now ensure that the gear chain is screwed into the hub completely – some grease should be applied to the thread. Turn back maximum of half a turn if necessary to ensure sure chain runs freely through round shouldered indicator nut on the wheel axle and reattach indicator chain to cable assembly.
Select second gear on the handle bar gear control! Looking through the “window” in the right hand axle nut, turn the cable adjuster until the passage of the gear axle and the beginning of the gear chain is positioned like seen the image on the left. You pull out the gear chain around 2-3mm. It’s not exactly in the middle of the window, but close.
Now spin the rear wheel with the pedal crank and reexamine to assure proper adjustment. Finally fix the counter nut on the cable adjuster.
